Gumshen – “Good To See You”

Seattle-based act Gumshen pair funky bass maneuvers with atmospheric electronic and catchy rock elements on “Good To See You,” a memorable single described as “about unplugging from digital noise and reconnecting with an old friend in real life — like coffee with someone you haven’t seen in a while.”

Prancing piano illumination and lush guitar jangles open the track with enjoyably atmospheric immersion, moving into a funky bass charm as the inviting “why don’t you sit down?” vocals beckon. Ruminations on places since departed and “now it’s been so long” passages of time then arrive into a warming “it’s good to see you” hook, met by hypnotic vocal layers, bouncy piano, and spacey synth injections. A soaring guitar solo also delights in the lead-up to the three-minute mark. “Good To See You” is melodically compelling excellence from Gumshen.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
