Washington, DC-based act Color Palette delight with “Barcelona,” a single combining a love for jangly pop and indie rock. Led by primary songwriter/vocalist Jay Nemeyer, the project shows well in its array of lushly atmospheric dream-pop momentum and jangly hookiness, the latter evident particularly in the memorable chorus, playing like an ode to the titular city: “We could spend our time, getting lost and drinking wine / I knew I loved you in, Barcelona.”
The verses’ references to ocean air and sunshine warmness further that sense of escape into blissfulness, with a love by their side as they trek through the “old city streets.” “Barcelona” is a fantastic track about a fantastic city. The release marks continued success for Color Palette, who caught our attention with the tracks “Grateful” and “Anywhere at All” last year.
